Ethical AI Development and Ensuring Transparency and Fairness in Algorithmic Decision-Making
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the industries and altering the decision-making process. As AI tools have emerged in industries, including health, finance, and criminal justice, ethics concerns related to data integration, and more so transparency and fairness, have never been more crucial than ever [1]. Developing AI in an ethical manner will guarantee that such systems do not violate human rights, do not show bias, and work in the best interest of society. Transparency in AI means that algorithms are understood and made explainable to the stakeholders, and fairness implies that AI systems are not discriminatory to a given person or group. In the absence of these principles, AI systems may reproduce the current biases, which will decrease trust and equitable results of the system. Throughout this paper, the importance of making the development of AI transparent and fair is examined. It deals with the ethical issues, approaches employed to secure transparency, and means of reducing bias in AI algorithms. It is aimed at offering practical guidance to the organizations and developers that strive to achieve the responsible and equitable use of AI technologies.
